The Foundry公司的Mari
是做纹理贴图的软件，最初是由 Weta Digital，建议的硬件规格与 Graphics
Cards请参考附档。
Mari是一个可以处理高度复杂纹理绘制的创意工具，Mari源于Weta
Digital公司为了制作《阿凡达》而开发的程序，后由The
Foundry继续开发成为商业软件，它的优点是快速又简单易用，可以处理高达 32k 的纹理绘图。它是利用 GPU
运算，所以硬件需求较高，须搭配 Nvidia Quadro 系列显卡。曾为电影《第九区 (DISTRICT 9)》、《可爱的骨头
(THE LOVELY BONES)》，以及《阿凡达 (Avatar) 》处理极度复杂、细腻的纹理绘制工作
。
Mari拥有的创意工具超越市面上的2D绘图工具，能够让动画师专注于纹理绘制的工作。它具有一个互动迅速又流畅的操作接口。你可以直接在3D模型上绘制纹理贴图，并能实时观看模型绘制后的效果
﹣不但节省不少纹理贴图的绘制时间，更将纹理贴图工作带往前所未见的境界。
Mari拥有无以伦比的庞大纹理贴图功能，能同时高速处理大数据量并实现高精细的纹理效果。 Mari目前支持
Linux 64 bit 操作系统，并且完全能够支持Windows 64 bit 操作系统的版本。
Baseblack是最早一批采用MARI的用户。在完成《哈利波特和死亡圣器》后，他们的团队讲述了为什么购买MARI，以及MARI为他们工作流程带来的不同。
参与了《哈利波特》前几部影片的
制作后，Baseblack制作公司又被找来为《圣器》处理独立VFX镜头，而主要的场景由一些规模更大的公司处理。新的VFX工作引起了
Baseblack的兴趣，他们又投入到了镜头的处理当中，而且在《圣器》第一部中制作的镜头数量比其他任何一家公司都要多。

For many artists, the idea of painting with images is a rather strange one. In their minds, paint is something that comes out of a tub and images come out of a camera. In this tutorial we will see that MARI does an amazing job at blurring the line between the two to create finished textures for 3D assets.
To get started we will first create an underpainting for our model. We’ll learn that this will help us to fill in the gaps in our textures while establishing an order of how we will layer in our color. From here we will learn how to pick appropriate images and paint them onto the surfaces of our model.
